Makinde accuses Atiku of failing to reach out after Ibadan explosion

Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has called out Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the last election, Atiku Abubakar.

Makinde accused Atiku of failing to contact him personally and express sympathy for the state after the Bodija explosion.

The blast, which happened on January 16, claimed the lives of five people, injured 77 others, and damaged several properties.

Makinde made the remark on Monday when he received a visit from Peter Obi, the former presidential candidate of the Labour Party, who came to show solidarity with him. He said that political leaders should be able to distinguish between politics and humanity.

He said, “There were three musketeers that went out for that election. The president (Bola Tinubu) has reached out to me, you have reached out to me, but my own party’s candidate has not even made a call, not even a text message.”

He added, “I am saying it openly so that our leaders will know that there is time for politics and governance, and also time for humanity.”
