Naira swap: Kwara Police Command beef up security in banks, warn against protest

Kwara State Police Commissioner, Paul Odama has ordered aggressive patrol of banks and other financial facilities across the state.

He warned criminal elements in the state not to embark on any unlawful protest over the current Naira scarcity, as anyone arrested would face harsh consequences.

In a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Ajayi Okasanmi on Saturday in Ilorin, the commissioner warned against any attempt to attack banks as it was the case in some states.

“Intelligence available to the command indicates that hoodlums have perfected plans to replicate the lawlessness that was unleashed on some banks in some states of the country, owing to the crisis emanating from the Naira note swap that is ongoing in Nigeria at present, which the government is doing all within its power to normalize,” he said.

The commissioner assured the people of the state that the command has the capacity to deal ruthlessly with any lawbreaker, urging criminals to shelve any dastardly idea.
