NCCE designates FCE Abeokuta as South West Resource Centre

In a landmark announcement during the 25th Combined Convocation Ceremony, the Federal College of Education (FCE), Abeokuta has been designated as the Early Grade Reading Resource Center for the entire Southwest Zone of Nigeria.

Executive Secretary of the National Commission For Colleges Of Education (NCCE), Prof. Paulinus Chijioke Okwelle, speaking at the event held on the college campus at Osiele, Abeokuta, emphasized the pivotal role the institution would play in providing essential resources for early childhood care education in the region.

Prof. Okwelle lauded FCE Abeokuta’s elevation, highlighting its strategic significance among colleges of education nationwide.

He further praised the college’s commitment to academic excellence and its pioneering efforts in teacher education, noting its pivotal role in shaping the educational landscape of the Gateway State.

Commending FCE Abeokuta for its exemplary performance in the recent accreditation exercise, Prof. Okwelle pointed out the event was a testament to the institution’s dedication to maintaining high standards of education.

The Executive Secretary of NCCE also stated that the college deserved to be applauded for consistently producing quality graduates who contribute meaningfully to Nigeria’s educational sector.

In his remarks, Provost of FCE Abeokuta, Dr. Rafiu Adekola Soyele, echoed Prof. Okwelle’s sentiments, emphasizing the institution’s commitment to excellence and its role in shaping the character and values of its graduates.
He also urged the graduating students to uphold integrity, excellence, and a spirit of service as they embark on their future endeavors.

During the convocation ceremony, Dr. Soyele announced the graduation of a total of 6,444 students from various academic programs offered by the college, spanning multiple academic disciplines and four graduating sets including the 2018/2019, 2019/2020, 2020/2021 and 2021/2022 final sessions.
