Nigeria, China pledge commitment to strengthen bilateral ties

Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, has reaffirmed the country’s commitment to strengthening its longstanding relationship with the People’s Republic of China.
Speaking during a high-level meeting in Abuja, Ambassador Tuggar hosted His Excellency Hu Chunhua, Vice Chairman of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, to discuss ways of deepening cooperation across key strategic sectors.
The meeting highlighted the strong diplomatic and economic ties between both nations, which have grown steadily over the past five decades. With bilateral trade now exceeding $12 billion annually, China remains one of Nigeria’s most important trading partners.
The partnership spans vital sectors including infrastructure, energy, technology, and agriculture—areas that continue to play a crucial role in Nigeria’s development.
Ambassador Tuggar stressed the importance of sustaining and expanding this cooperation, noting that the collaboration between Africa’s largest economy and the world’s second-largest economy holds immense potential for shared prosperity.
