The Nigerian Army has mandated all its Finance personnel to be proactive and proficient in their duties.

This directive was issued by the Chief of Accounts and Budget, Major General Adetokunbo Fayemiwo, at the 1 Division Finance Training Week 2024 in Kaduna on Wednesday.

Represented by Brigadier General David Nwakonobi, Chief of Staff of the 1 Division, Fayemiwo emphasized the importance of delivering timely and effective financial services to all Nigerian Army personnel, units, and formations.

He emphasized that adherence to regulations and professional conduct is paramount for the finance personnel.

The theme of the training week, “Enhancing Capacity and Skills of 1 Division Finance Officers/Clerks for Proactive and Efficient Delivery of Financial Services to 1 Division Nigerian Army,” highlights the Army’s commitment to continuous improvement.

This initiative aligns with the Chief of Army Staff’s command philosophy to transform the Nigerian Army into a well-trained, equipped, and highly motivated force.

Maj. Gen. Fayemiwo noted that the training week is designed to address the specific needs of Finance officers and soldiers within the division. The program aims to update personnel on contemporary government financial policies and best practices, ensuring they are well-equipped to manage Nigerian Army funds efficiently.

“The duties and responsibilities of the Nigerian Army Finance Corps are crucial to the performance and effectiveness of the Nigerian Army in both wartime and peacetime,” Fayemiwo stated.

He added that the training week would serve as a vital platform for enhancing the professional capabilities of finance personnel.

In line with his training objectives for 2024, Fayemiwo has directed all Division Finance Offices to conduct similar training weeks to meet their personnel’s needs.

He further encouraged all participants to engage actively in the sessions to maximize the benefits of the training.
