NOA condemns killing of travellers in Edo, calls for justice

The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has strongly condemned the killing of travellers along Uromi Road in Edo State, describing the mob action as unlawful and inhumane.
In a statement issued by its Director General, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, the agency emphasized that such acts violate the principles of justice and due process. NOA extended its condolences to the victims’ families, expressing solidarity in their grief.
“Every Nigerian, regardless of background or location, deserves the right to a fair trial and protection under the law,” Issa-Onilu stated.
The agency expressed confidence that security forces will take swift action, especially following President Bola Tinubu’s directive for a full investigation to ensure those responsible face justice.
The NOA chief urged citizens to uphold the rule of law and report suspicions of crime to security agencies rather than resorting to extrajudicial actions. He stressed that Nigeria is defined by unity, respect for human rights, and adherence to due process.
“The NOA remains committed to promoting peace, unity, and the values that define us as a nation. Let us work together to uphold justice and safeguard the sanctity of human life,” he added.
The agency reaffirmed its dedication to fostering national harmony and urged Nigerians to reject violence in all forms.
