The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has instructed all community orientation and mobilization officers across the 774 Local Government Areas (LGAs) to memorize the reintroduced national anthem by June 3.

The agency emphasized that these officers will serve as the grassroots enforcers of the new government policy, while revealing it was collaborating with the National Union of Teachers (NUT) to ensure schools nationwide adopt the reintroduced anthem.

In a statement, NOA’s Deputy Director of Press, Paul Odenyi, quoted the agency’s Director-General, Lanre Issa-Onilu, highlighting that this directive is part of the agency’s efforts to facilitate a smooth transition to the reinstated anthem.

Issa-Onilu described the reintroduction of the old anthem as a component of a national identity project aimed at fostering unity and patriotism among citizens.

“We are excited to embark on this new chapter in our national history,” Issa-Onilu stated.

“We believe that this national anthem will inspire pride and unity among Nigerians, and we are committed to ensuring that every citizen has access to it,” he added.

This initiative follows President Tinubu’s signing of a bill on Wednesday that reinstates the old national anthem.
