Ogun: Three arrested for buying stolen electricity cables

Three suspects have been arrested for buying stolen transformer armoured cables with N9.8m in OPIC Estate, Agbara, Ogun State.

The suspects are; Mansirina Usman (27), Janadu Ahyarn (20), and Husseni Abdullahi (20).

According to Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps (So-Safe Corps), the suspects were arrested on June 27, after the reisdents reported the case of vandalisation and theft of armoured cables worth ₦9.8 million to the Corps.

The State Commander, Commander (Dr) Soji Ganzallo, through the office of the Director of Information and Public Relations, Assistant Commander Moruf Yusuf, said the arrest was made possible by the Corps’ surveillance team, who acted on a tip-off that the stolen cables were being sold in OPIC Estate.

According to the State Commander, the suspects confessed to buying the stolen cables from Mustapha and Minister, who were at large.

Ganzallo said Usman bought 30kg of cable for ₦300,000, Ahyarn bought 25kg for ₦250,000, and Abdullahi bought 20kg for ₦200,000.

He added ” The suspects had in their possession four off-cut armored cables, ₦18,850 in cash, three Android phones, two wristwatches, and two unmarked TVS motorcycles.

” The three suspects and recovered exhibits have been transferred to the Nigeria Police Force, Agbara Divisional Headquarters for further investigation and likely prosecution”.

Ganzallo commended the surveillance team for their swift action and reiterated the Corps’ commitment to combating criminal activities in the State.
