Ogun council chair calls for unity among Obas

….as Wasinmi gets new king

The Chairman of Ewekoro local government, Adesina Adisa, has called on the forum of Obas in the Council to unite for the development of their Kingdom.

Adisa urged the Obas to extend hand of fellowship to the new Olu of Wasinmi, saying it would go a long way in giving him a strong footing on the throne.

Adisa said this during the official installation and presentation of staff of office to the new Olu of Wasinmi, His Royal Majesty, Oba Sufianu Sunday Adisa Jolaosho, held in Wasinmi area of Ogun state.

He appealed to sons and daughters of Wasinmi, both home and in diaspora to rally round the King in order to move Wasinmi forward.

Adisa said ” No doubt, Wasinmi is a peaceful and politically active community in Ewekoro Local Government and has produced illustrious sons and daughters of repute, who have excelled and made their marks in all spheres of human endeavour.

“The new Olu of Wasinmi is a well known person, who has an impeccable character because I have never heard of any negative remark about him. He is a progressive individual, who has contributed immensely to the development of Wasinmi and Ewekoro Local Government at large”.

The Council boss expressed appreciation to governor Dapo Abiodun for approving the appointment of the King.

Meanwhile, Governor Dapo Abiodun, who was represented by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Ganiyu Hamzat, congratulated the Olu of Wasinmi, Warrant Chiefs and the entire people of the town on the occasion.

” Permit me, to salute with respect, the Alake and paramount ruler of Egbaland, Kabiyesi Alayeluwa , Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, CFR, for His Royal Majesty’s role in making today’s event a reality.

” It is imperative to apprised the good people of Wasinmi that the choice of our new Oba, Oba Sufianu Sunday Adisa Jolaosho is one that follows due process.

“What you are witness today is therefore the last stage of a process, which complied strictly with the requirements of relevant sections of Oba and Chiefs Law, Laws of Ogun State, 2021 and in accordance with the customs and tradition of Wasinmi Community,” the governor stated.

“As one of the three recognized chieftaincy recently approved by the State Executive Council, the appointment of Oba Sufianu Sunday Adisa Jolaosho had overwhelming support of his people,” the governor revealed.

Abiodun urged the contending parties to sheath their swords, embrace peace and unite with the King for the development of the town.

The highlight of the event was the presentation of staff of office and instrument of appointment to Oba Sufianu Sunday Adisa Jolaosho as the Olu of Wasinmi.

It would be recalled that the Chieftaincy stool of Olu of Wasinmi became vacant with the demise of Oba Babatunde Emmanuel Osuntogun, who joined his ancestors on 13th December, 2021.
