The Ogun State Police Command has apprehended two members of a four-man gang involved in “one chance” robbery after a high-speed pursuit by the Sango Ota division.

This was stated in a press release by SP Omolola Odutola, the state’s Police Public Relations Officer.

According to the statement, the arrests followed a report from a victim on March 23, 2024, who was robbed of her belongings, including a smartphone valued at ₦85,000, ₦123,000 cash from a POS machine sale, and ₦105,000 in cash, by the suspects posing as fellow passengers in a Toyota Corolla taxi from Ijako market to Itori.

Acting on the report, the DPO of Sango Ota Division instructed surveillance teams to apprehend the culprits.

The suspects, upon sighting the policemen, abandoned their vehicle and ran into different directions, with the crack police operatives able to outrun them, resulting in arresting the duo of one Aliu Oyetola, and Seyi Afolabi, both males and aged 35 and 40 respectively.

The suspects who were reportedly captured on Thursday, had in their possession, a blue coloured Toyota Corolla vehicle with registration number GGE 659 FR.

The arrested suspects who are said to be cooperating with the police will be transferred to the anti robbery department of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for discreet investigation and prosecution according to the directives of state Police Commissioner, Abiodun Alamutu.
