Ogun Speaker, Oluomo wins Ifo Constituency 1 election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Taiwo Olakunle Oluomo, as the winner of Ifo Constituency 1 House of Assembly seat.

A supplementary election was held on Saturday following INEC’s declaration of over voting at unit 08, ward 1, Vespa Ifo, during the March 18 governorship and House of Assembly elections.

Oluomo, who sought re-election on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the fourth time defeated Hon. Yusuf Okikiola Ogundele of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the overall votes.

Oluomo polled 7,546 votes to defeat Ogundele, who scored 6,596 votes.

Only 950 votes separated the combatants.

At Saturday’s rerun, APC lost to PDP. While Oluomo got 167 votes, Ogundele scored 186.

Collation/Returning Officer for the rerun,
Prof. Richard Abayomi Sobayo declared Oluomo the winner.
