Okuama: Military declares professor, 7 others wanted

The Nigerian military has declared eight persons wanted in connection with the killing of 17 soldiers and security officers in the Okuama Community of Delta State.

The Director, Defence Media Operations, Edward Buba, a Major-General, disclosed this on Thursday in a press briefing at the Defence Headquarters in Abuja.

According to the military, names of suspects declared wanted include; Prof. Ekpekpo Arthur, Mrs Igoli Ebi, Reuben Baru, Sinclear Oliki, Akata Malawa David, Clement Ikolo Oghenerukevwe, Andaowei Dennis and Akevwru Daniel Omotegbono.

Stating that no reward has been placed on the wanted persons at the moment, Buba enjoined concerned stakeholders and traditional rulers in the Niger Delta and other parts of the country to assist the military in identifying the suspects.

Recall that reports have revaeled the tragic event where troops from the 181 Amphibious Battalion, stationed in Bomadi Local Government Area of Delta State, were ambushed and killed on March 14, 2024, while on a peacekeeping mission in Okuoma Community.

The incident unfolded as the troops answered a distress call stemming from a communal conflict between Okuoma and Okoloba communities in Delta State, sparking widespread outrage across the country.

The fallen soldiers were laid to rest at the National Military Cemetery in Abuja on Wednesday, with President Bola Tinubu and other prominent government officials in attendance, paying their respects to the deceased.
