Ondo CP visits warring communities, after deadly clash claims farmer’s life

In the wake of a violent clash between the Ubi community and Fulani residents in Ondo State, Commissioner of Police CP Abayomi Peter Oladipo visited the affected areas on Tuesday to conduct an on-the-spot assessment. The visit followed a tragic incident in which a young farmer from the Ubi community was found dead after being attacked on his way to his farm.

According to a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, the farmer’s body was discovered on Sunday along a farm road, with fatal stab wounds and severe injuries. His death led to tensions in the community, with reports that youths, believed to be from Ubi Akoko, retaliated by attacking Fulani settlements at Aduloju Camp.

During his visit, CP Abayomi met with members of the Ubi community, offering his condolences and assuring them that the perpetrators of the murder would be brought to justice. He also addressed the Fulani community at Aduloju Camp, promising that those responsible for the attacks would face legal consequences.

CP Abayomi urged both communities to maintain peace while the police conduct a thorough investigation into the incidents. The Commissioner directed the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to take over the case to ensure a comprehensive and unbiased probe. He also indicated plans to brief the Governor on the situation and the discussions held during his visit.

The Ondo State Police Command further called on residents to report any criminal activities to the nearest police station or other security agencies to help maintain peace and security in the state.
