Orolu Community asks security agencies to wade into gross violation of peace- pact signed between Orolu/Ilobu

The Ifon-Orolu Progressive Union (IPU) has called on the security agencies to probe the gross violation of the Peace-Pact signed by Orolu and Ilobu communities with the Osun State Government.

IPU, specifically accused one Mr. Asif Azeez, the caretaker Vice Chairman of Irepodun Local Government and Mr. Ola David of threatening further attacks against Ifon communities.

Addressing journalists in Osogbo on Monday, the Secretary, IPU board of trustees, Prince Jide Akinyooye said that the duo have been giving cover up to people of Ilobu illegally excavating sand and gravel at Opapa Village where the Osun State Government has declared as “RESTRICTED AREA”.

Akinyooye said both Azeez and David including their gang members goes about in the community carried dangerous weapons like pump action gun, pistols, double barrel guns shooting sporadically into the air.

He called on the the Inspector General of Police through the Osun State Commissioner of Police and other security agencies to recover sophisticated guns in possession of the Caretaker Vice-Chairman of Irepodun Local Government and his team.

He further said, “Investigation should also be made to unveil the source of the arms and ammunition being boastfully brandished by Mr Asif Azeez in a viral picture making the round on social media as we all know that Mr Asif Azeez is not a security agent that could be lawfully entitled to carry arms and ammunition in such a manner.”

Akinyooye also requested the Osun State Government to erect visible signboards in the restricted area in order to discourage continued activities by any of the three communities saying, “as these activities, if not fully checked, could frustrate the peace efforts of government.”

He appealed to the Federal Government, Osun State Government and other well-meaning Nigerians to come to the aid of many Orolu people that have been rendered homeless as well as those that has lost their means of livelihood in Orolu Local Government area.

The IPU petitioned State Director, Department State Security Services (DSS) and the Commissioner of Police against Mr. Asif Azeez and others over malicious arsons, threat to lives, unlawful possession of arms and ammunition and flagrant disregard for Osun State Government peace order.
