Osodeke re-elected ASUU national president

Members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) have unanimously re-elected Professor Emmanuel Osodeke as their National President for another two-year term.

The election took place in the early hours of Monday during the 22nd National Delegates Conference of ASUU held at the University of Jos, Plateau State, from May 19 to 21, 2023.

Professor Emmanuel Osodeke, who hails from Michael Okpara University of Agriculture in Umudike, Abia State, was re-elected unopposed.

Additionally, Chris Piwuna, an Associate Professor and Consultant Psychiatrist in the College of Medicine at the University of Jos, was also re-elected as the Vice President.

The conference witnessed the re-election of several other key national officers, including Professor Siji Sowande as Treasurer, Professor Ade Adejumo as Financial Secretary, Dr. Austen Sado as Investment Secretary, Dr. Adamu Babayo as Internal Auditor, and Dr. Aisha Bawa, who assumed the position of Welfare Secretary, replacing Dr. Stella-Maris Okey.

Professor Emmanuel Osodeke expressed his satisfaction with the successful outcome of the National Delegates Conference held in Jos.

“We have concluded our national delegates conference in Jos, and it was a success. Upon our return to our station, we will issue a comprehensive statement regarding the conference, my re-election, and the other national officers. Thank you,” Osodeke told The PUNCH.
