Osun State Police Command has arrested a 36-year old man, Abbas Adio for allegedly killing a taxi driver, Emmanuel Oyiobo, by injecting him with an unknown substance.

Adio claimed to be a medical doctor in one of the hospitals in Kwara State during investigation by the security operatives.

The command’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Yemisi Opalola, while parading the suspect at the police headquarters in Osogbo said Adio went to Benin, Edo State and hired the taxi driver who was driving him around for the days he (suspect) spent there.

Opalola stated further that the suspect travelled from Kwara State to Edo State sometimes in July and snatched a Toyota Camry car from the victim (Oyiobo) before eventually killing him.

The PPRO said: “A distress call was received from Edo State Police Command that a Toyota Camry car was snatched from Benin and tracked to Osun State. The police command swiftly put security mechanism in place and the said car was intercepted along Ejigbo/Ogbomoso road while the occupant was arrested.

“The suspect, who travelled from Kwara State to Benin in Edo State sometimes in the month of July this year, met one Emmanuel Oyiobo, a taxi driver who was driving him for the days he spent in Benin.

“Thereafter, the suspect and the deceased became friends and exchanged phone numbers and have been communicating since then.

“The suspect communicated to his friend (victim) in Benin that he wanted to sell his car and they agreed that the suspect should bring the car to Benin where it was sold for N1.4million.

“The suspect in the course of his stay in Benin after selling his car trickily injected his friend (deceased) with a substance suspected to have killed him on 03/09/2022.

“He subsequently dumped his corpse in a nearby bush and made away his white Toyota Camry muscle.”

Opalola stated that Adio will be charge to court as soon as investigation into the case is concluded.
