Palliative: Osun students reject two bags of rice

Osun State students under the aegis of Ila Orangun National Students’ Association (INSA) have rejected the two bags of rice given to them as palliative to cushion the effect of subsidy removal.

The students, in a statement on Tuesday signed by the National President, Adedeji Segun and the Secretary General, Ajide Oluwafemi, disclosed that the association received two bags of rice out of the 208 bags of rice sent to Ila Local Government area of the state.

The statement partly read, “208 bags of rice were sent to Ila local government. And they are supposed to share them to different community societies and associations,  like the artisans, Iyalode, Iyaloja, CAN, MSSN, Students etc.

“However, only two bags of rice were given to the millions of students populace of the town.

“This is not so substantial for the students contributions, struggles and enormous needs caused by the subsidy removal, which bears the palliative distribution.

“Therefore, we have decided unanimously to reject the two (2) bags of rice, because we believe this can not reach even a unit quarter of the students populace. This is also a proactive means of preventing issues that uncirculated distribution may cause.”
