Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde, on Sunday received governors elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ibadan for a two-day meeting.
WESTERN POST gathered that the meeting is expected to focus on critical issues affecting the party, including the political crisis in Rivers State, the recent declaration of a state of emergency, and the suspension of Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
Governor Makinde, in a statement issued on Monday, confirmed the meeting and commended stakeholders for attending despite limited access to Ibadan due to the ongoing upgrade at the airport.

“Last night, we hosted a banquet in honour of governors of our great party, the Peoples Democratic Party, who are in Ibadan for the PDP Governors’ Forum Meeting. In my remarks, I thanked my brothers who attended the event despite the reduced access to Ibadan due to the ongoing airport upgrade,” the governor stated.

He added, “The PDP Governors’ Forum Meeting is necessary at this time to deliberate on the way forward for the PDP as we reposition the party as the best option for Nigerians in 2027.”

Notable figures in attendance included Bauchi State Governor and Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum, Bala Mohammed; Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke; Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal; and Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, among others.

The meeting is expected to conclude with a communiqué outlining key resolutions on party unity, internal affairs, and national political developments.
The PDP Governors’ Forum continues to play a pivotal role in shaping the direction of the opposition party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
