Oyo State Police Command has apprehended 20 individuals following a daring incursion into the state government premises in Agodi, Ibadan, on Saturday.

The invaders, donning military camouflage attire, were thwarted by security forces who swiftly intervened.

Among the seized items were three pump-action guns, 291 life cartridges, assorted melee weapons, bulletproof vests, and Oodua Nation military uniforms, as stated by the Oyo State police spokesperson, Osifeso Adewale.

“The suspects, who were on military camouflages came heavily armed in an unregistered silver coloured Nissan Urban Caravan bus containing cutlasses, pump action rifles, cartridges, assorted charms, and an Oodua nation agitation flag,” the police said.

These intruders, suspected to be affiliated with the Yoruba Nation group, attempted to breach the Governor’s Office during the assault but were repelled by vigilant security personnel.

Witnesses at the scene also reported gunfire exchanges between the invaders and law enforcement.

Following the incident, a joint security task force, including soldiers, secured the area around the Oyo State Government Secretariat, diverting traffic and fortifying access points.

Meanwhile, investigations led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police are underway, while the state government has yet to issue an official statement on the matter.
