Operatives of the Zonal Anti-Piracy Unit, led by Assistant Inspector General of Police, AIG Olatoye Durosinmi, have apprehended one Tayo Shakirudeen in Lagos on suspicion of possessing forged medical certificates and operating an unlicensed health centre.

This development was disclosed by zonal public relations officer, SP Ayuba Umma in a statement on Tuesday.

Following intelligence gathered from the Elepe community, the team, led by SP Mariam Ogunmolasuyi, raided Skylink Medical Centre in Elepe-Ikorodu, Lagos, where Shakirudeen allegedly operates.

According to the statement, two suspected forged certificates from Obafemi Awolowo University and the Nigeria Medical and Dental Council were seized during the search, along with medical equipment.

While disclosing that the hospital has been sealed pending investigation, the police revealed that Shakirudeen confessed to producing the certificates electronically, admitting his sole qualification as the Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE).

The suspect also claimed to have conducted surgeries despite lacking proper medical qualifications, operating with only two trained nurses and four untrained staff.

Reacting to the situation, AIG Durosimi has urged the public to report any suspicious activities to the police.

The Zonal Command further stated its readiness in collaborating with health ministries to curb such illegal practices in Lagos and Ogun States.
