Police arrests House of Reps member with foreign currency in Rivers

A member of the House of Representatives, Chinyere Igwe has been arrested by the police in Port Harcourt, Rivers State with dollar notes.

Igwe was arrested Friday morning with over $500,000.

According to reports the arrested lawmaker claimed the money was given to him to ensure the electoral success of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar in Rivers State.

Spokesperson of the Rivers State Police Command, Grace Iringe-Koko, confirmed the arrest to The PUNCH.

She said: “A statement on it will be released soon.”
