Police identify killers of man shot dead at fuel queue in Lagos

Following the killing of Toheeb Eniafe at a fuel station in the Obalende area of Lagos State, the Nigerian Police has disclosed that the killers of the young man were police officers attached to the Lagos State Police Command.

According to the police, the killers of Eniafe were police officers serving at Special Protection Unit (SPU) Base 17, Lion Building, Lagos.

The clarification came hours after residents alleged that the man queuing for fuel at the station was killed by personnel of the Department of State Services (DSS). The DSS has denied the allegations promptly.

Disclosing this on Thursday, the Spokesperson for Lagos Command, Benjamin Hundeyin, explained that the command would be limiting its search to the SPU base.

Hundeyin added that the command is investigating the case and would make its findings public soon.

The statement, “The person behind the shooting has been identified as a police officer serving at Special Protection Unit (SPU) Base 17, Lion Building, Lagos.

“Investigation is still ongoing and further findings will be made available.

“Meanwhile, the Lagos State Police Command is working with the family of the deceased to ensure that there is no miscarriage of justice”, it added.
