Delta Police investigate murder of site manager in Akwukwu Igbo

Delta State Police are investigating the murder of Chigozie Udalor, a site manager at a fish bond in the Bod Camp area of Akwukwu Igbo community.

According to a report filed by Hyacinth Nnalue, the victim’s cousin, Udalor had been missing since December 10, 2024. Nnalue informed the Akwu-kwu Igbo division on December 12, 2024, prompting an immediate investigation by the police.

The investigation was initially handled by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), but due to the gravity of the case, it was later transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID).

The Commissioner of Police, Delta State, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, ordered a technically driven investigation, similar to the earlier investigation into the murder of Paulinus in Otokutu.

On March 31, 2025, police operatives arrested David Tacho, who was found attempting to withdraw money from Udalor’s account using his phone.

Further investigation led to the arrest of Daniel Orshio, who was implicated in the murder. It was revealed that David Tacho’s brother, Victor Tacho, along with Pius Daniel (both currently on the run), conspired with Orshio to murder Udalor.

The suspects, who were all employed by the deceased, learned of Udalor’s money in his Moniepoint account and decided to kill him. They used a hammer to strike him on the head, tied him up, and buried his body in a shallow grave at the site.

Currently, David Tacho and Daniel Orshio are in police custody, while Pius Daniel and Victor Tacho remain at large. The body of Udalor has been exhumed and is awaiting autopsy. Authorities are actively pursuing the remaining suspects.
