Police invite Fani-Kayode over coup comments

Former Aviation Minister Femi Fani-Kayode has been invited by the Nigeria Police Force for a meeting with the Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) Force Intelligence Bureau, Abuja on Wednesday.

This was contained in an invitation letter addressed to Fani-Kayode dated February 13 and signed by CP Arungwa Nwazue on behalf of the AIG, Force Intelligence Bureau.

Although the letter did not state the reason for Fani-Kayode’s invitation, it might not be unconnected to his post on a reported meeting between Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar and some officers of the Nigerian Army towards a coup plot.

“I am directed to invite you for a meeting with the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Force Intelligence Bureau (FIB) Abuja for a meeting on Tuesday 14th February, 2023 at 3pm in Room 303, 2nd Floor, FCID Complex, Area 10, Garki, Abuja.

“Treat as very urgent, please,” the letter read.

Fani-Kayode was also grilled by the Department of State Services (DSS) on Monday over the same social media post after he honoured their invitation.

According to Fani-Kayode, he was released on Tuesday by the DSS after a five-hour interrogation and asked to report back on Wednesday.
