Police launch investigation after discovery of three headless bodies in Ondo

Police have launched investigation in Ondo, following the gruesome discovery of three headless, decomposing bodies along a river in the Odigbo area of the State.

According to a statement issued by the Ondo State Police Command, the disturbing scene was first spotted by local residents who immediately alerted law enforcement authorities. Preliminary assessments suggest that at least one of the bodies may have been carried by the river current before being found.

The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) overseeing the area was said to have swiftly mobilized officers to the location, initiating a coordinated response to the incident.

The police have since recovered the remains and commenced investigations to determine the identity of the victims and the circumstances surrounding their deaths.

Community leaders and vigilante groups have been enlisted to assist with the identification process. However, the police noted that no formal report of missing persons has been filed in relation to the area, complicating efforts to trace the deceased.

“The Ondo State Police Command remains committed to ensuring the safety and security of all residents,” said DSP Ayanlade Olayinka Olushola, the state’s Police Public Relations Officer.

“We are urging anyone with information that could assist in the investigation to come forward.”

Stating that further updates will be provided as the investigation progresses, the Police urged members of the public with relevant information are encouraged to contact the command.
