President Tinubu sends best wishes to team Nigeria at Paris 2024 Olympics

President Bola Tinubu has extended his best wishes to Team Nigeria as they compete in the 2024 Paris Olympic Games. The President expressed his support and encouragement to the 88 Nigerian athletes, comprising 63 women and 25 men, who are representing the nation in 12 sports.

In a statement released by his spokesperson, Ajuri Ngelale, on Friday, President Tinubu assured the athletes of his full backing and that of over 200 million Nigerians. He highlighted the nation’s collective prayers and cheers for their success at the Games.

As the Olympic Games officially opened on Friday, July 26, with the Parade of Nations, President Tinubu expressed his anticipation of seeing Nigeria’s flagbearer, Ms. Tobi Amusan, the current world record holder in the 100 metres hurdles, and other athletes compete with honour and dedication on the global stage.

The President urged the athletes to demonstrate the resilience, courage, respect, self-control, and sportsmanship that are hallmarks of the Nigerian spirit.

He also called on the coaching crew, support staff, and Nigerian spectators in Paris to remain exemplary ambassadors of the country.

The Paris 2024 Olympic Games will take place from July 26 to August 11, featuring 10,714 athletes from 206 countries.
