President Xi Jinping invites Tinubu to China on State Visit

Chinese President Xi Jinping has extended an invitation to Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a state visit to China in September.

The invitation was disclosed by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, in a post on his X account on Saturday.
According to Onanuga, China’s Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, Chen Xiaodong, delivered the invitation to President Tinubu at the Aso Villa on Thursday.

Chen, who came with a large entourage, said President Xi would also welcome First Lady Remi Tinubu during the visit.

The presidential aide said President Tinubu accepted the invitation and hoped that it would strengthen Nigeria-China bilateral relations and the proposed currency swap agreement.

WESTERN POST Online reported that President Tinubu received the Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China, Chen Xiaodong, and commended the partnership between Nigeria and China.

According to a statement by Ajuri Ngelale, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity on Thursday, the President welcomed China’s support for a more prominent position for Nigeria in the G20, UN Security Council, and the intergovernmental organization of developing economies comprising Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa (BRICS).
