Primary healthcare, most inclusive to physical, mental health – Ali Pate

The Minister of Health, Ali Pate, says that the primary healthcare system is the most effective and inclusive way to improve people’s physical and mental health, including sexual and reproductive health, and social well-being.

This, according to him, can be achieved through a well-sustained Human Resources for Health program.

Pate who said this in a post via his X account on Wednesday noted that It is crucial to break the cycle of panic and neglect, as the threat of pandemics is ever-present.

The minister said this while giving his goodwill message at an event by the EU-AU Partnership on Global Health high-level event in Brussels, Belgium

The event, according to him, focused on strengthening the foundation of shared ambitions between the EU and AU in Global Health.

“We welcome the emphasis on Primary Health Care as the most inclusive, effective, and efficient approach to enhancing people’s physical and mental health, including sexual and reproductive health, and social well-being through well-sustained Human Resources for Health.

In addition, Pate urged global health stakeholders to be sincere in their efforts to achieve a fair Pandemic Accord and to revise the International Health Regulations to better prepare for future global health challenges. He pointed out that breaking the cycle of panic and neglect is crucial, as the threat of pandemics is ever-present.
