The Osun State Council of Obas, under the chairmanship of the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan, has issued an urgent appeal to the Federal Government to repair the Ibadan-Ife-Ilesa Express Road.

This call was made during their monthly statutory meeting held at the Council chambers in Osogbo.

In a communique released after the meeting, the traditional rulers described the express road as a “death trap” for motorists, highlighting its dangerous condition.

The document, signed by Oba (Dr) Michael Odunayo Ajayi, Arowotawaya II, the Elerinmo of Erinmo Ijesa, emphasized the significance of the road as a major federal route in the Southwest, connecting several states.

The council appealed to President Bola Tinubu and his administration to prioritize the road’s repair to ensure the safety of travelers and boost regional connectivity.

The traditional rulers also urged the government to enact laws regulating the activities of Fulani herders and farmers within the state.

Expressing confidence that such regulations, alongside state government interventions, would mitigate the damage caused by herders to farmlands, they added it would promote harmony between the two groups.
