Rivers Crisis: Police officer, vigilante killed in Omuma LGA

A police officer and a local vigilante member in Omuma Local Government Area of Rivers State have been killed

According to reports, security men on guard at the local council secretariat allegedly resisted Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s loyalists from gaining entry to the premises. Shots were reportedly fired in the ensuing arguments and confrontation that followed, causing the death of the police officer and a member of the vigilante in the area.

Rivers State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, Grace Iringo-Koko, confirmed the incident.

According to her, investigation is ongoing into the matter.
