RMAFC collaborate with JAMB to conduct promotion exams
The Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC), in collaboration with the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB), has conducted the year 2024 staff promotion exercise for officers on grade levels 14, 15, and 16 who have met the basic requirements to move to the next grade levels, 15, 16, and 17, respectively.
The newly introduced computer-based examination was held on Thursday, May 16, 2024, at the JAMB Professional Test Centre in Bwari, Abuja.
Speaking on the exercise, Hon. Ntufam Eyo Nsa Whiley, the Commissioner representing Cross River State in the Commission and Chairman of the Personnel Matters Committee, stated that the decision to conduct a computer-based examination in conjunction with JAMB was based on the Plenary Session’s decision.
He explained that the essence of the CBT exams was to test the staff’s ability to discharge their duties in light of the organisation’s sensitive role.
He said, “The essence of the exercise is to test the competence of our officers, knowing that the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission is a strategic commission in charge of revenue monitoring, evaluation, and implementation of policies.”
“We had to do this exercise to test the competence of our officers, their professional competence, their abilities, and their knowledge of the rules and regulations,” he added.
The Secretary to the Board of the Commission, Nwaze Joseph Okechukwu, expressed satisfaction with the exercise and conduct of the candidates. He disclosed that the decision to replace the orthodox method of conducting promotion exams in the Commission with the computer-based method came as one of the initiatives of the current Chairman of the Commission, Mr Muhammed Bello Shehu, who is poised to move the organisation to greater heights.
Mr. Okechukwu expressed confidence in the exercise’s success and stated that all future commission promotion exams will be computer-based.
He said, “I am pleased with the staff’s conduct, and I believe that at the end of the day, everyone will be happy with the innovation.”
Mrs Funmilola Fauziya P-Usman, the Acting Director of the ICT department at JAMB, maintained that her organization was accustomed to collaborating with private and public agencies. She expressed happiness over the collaboration with RMAFC and hoped the outcome would be satisfactory.
“I hope we met and satisfied your needs because exam delivery is our business, and that’s what we’ve been doing for years.”We thank God that we have been living up to expectations,” she said.
“We hope that we met the expectations of the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission.”The director praised the commission’s staff for their orderly behaviour during the exercise.
“They’ve conducted themselves well,” she added.
“Actually, they’ve been acting like candidates, obeying the rules, and drawing attention when they need it, so we’ve not had any issues during the course of writing the examination.”
A cross-section of the candidates interviewed praised the commission for the exercise. One of the participants, Mr Bashiru Aliyu, said, “Well, first of all, we thank the Commission for giving us this opportunity to test our intellectual capacities, and I feel so proud that I took part in the computer-based exam. I believe I am going to make it.
“I wish the Commission the best of everything, and I wish my colleagues the best of luck.”
Brenda Happiness, a participant from the Makurdi Zonal Office, expressed her appreciation for the computer-based exam and expressed her hope for its future use in promotion exams. They conducted the exercise well, making it a pleasant experience. I am very pleased with it. They have done well.
