Sanwo-Olu appoints nephew to head Diaspora agency

The governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu has appointed his nephew, Jermaine Sanwo-Olu as Director General of the Lagos State Diappora Agency.

The agency was newly created to be a full fledged Disappora Office.

Jermaine who was some months ago appointed Senior Special Assistant to his Uncle, Governor Sanwo-Olu, on Disapora Affairs, would be the pioneer head of the agency.


Applauding the governor for the creation of the agency, Nigerians in Disapora Commission ( NIDCOM) press statement by Nigerians in Diaspora Commission,NIDCOM, which was signed by Director, Media, Public Relations and Protocols Unit, NiDCOM, Abuja, Abdur-Rahman Balogun stated that head of NIDCOM, Hon. Abikr Dabiro-Erewa applauded the gesture of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos state by creating a full fledged Diaspora office in the State to take care of the interests and welfare of the indigenes in the diaspora.

In a congratulatory letter to Gov. Sanwoolu Erewa said the creation of the office will further engender closer relationship and fast track development in the state with its diaspora.

Àccording to her, Lagos has joined the league of states like Abia, which has a Diaspora Commission, Ondo and Anambra have full Commissioners for Diaspora, while Edo and Cross Rivers are in the process of setting up their diaspora agencies.

The NIDCOM boss urged other states to give priority to diaspora affairs as every state has its indigenes abroad excelling in one way or the other, and willing to contribute to the state and national development.

She congratulated Governor Sanwo-Olu, and the State Diaspora Focal Person, Jermaine Sanwoolu, who will be the pioneer head of the Agency.
