Sanwo-Olu assures Lagosians of peaceful elections

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Friday assured Lagosians of peaceful elections on Saturday.
He said there is no need for people to entertain any fear about the election.
In a statement signed by Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, Governor Sanwo-Olu said his assurance became important because of the recent announcement of some customary rites by traditional rulers.

He assured all residents of the security of lives and property in the state.

He said: “Whilst the state government reiterates the freedom of religion, it also cautions that traditional institutions holding this customary rites to ensure that these activities do not infringe on the fundamental rights of all the citizens who are not of this faith, especially during the course of the elections.

“Consequent upon this, Lagos State residents are advised to go about their civic duties as the state government will ensure that all security personnel are at the alert to guarantee the peace and
safety of the lives of the good citizens of Lagos State, before, during and after the elections.

“Anybody planning to foment trouble will have the law to contend with.

“Our state is peaceful and it will remain so.”
