Shell Nigeria Gas, OYSG seal deal to boost gas infrastructure

Shell Nigeria Gas (SNG) and the Oyo State Government have sealed an agreement to develop a robust gas supply and distribution infrastructure across the state.

The agreement, announced in a statement on Friday by Shell Nigeria’s Media Relations Manager, Abimbola Essien-Nelson, outlines SNG’s commitment to constructing and operating a gas distribution network spanning Oyo State for the next two decades.

According to the statement, the move aimed at enhancing industrial and commercial activities, include plans of laying a 15km pipeline route to kickstart the project, with the capacity to deliver up to 60 million standard cubic feet of gas per day.

Scheduled to commence operations in the fourth quarter of 2025, this initiative has received praise from Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, who hailed it as a pivotal step towards bolstering development efforts in the region.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Makinde emphasized the project’s alignment with the state’s agenda for innovation and industrialization, expressing eagerness to foster similar collaborations in the future.

Echoing Makinde’s sentiments, Ralph Gbobo, Managing Director of SNG, emphasized the venture’s potential to fuel economic growth, generate employment opportunities, and optimize energy supply for businesses.

Managing Director of The Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria Limited, Osagie Okunbor, emphasized Shell’s commitment to advancing Nigeria’s energy landscape through sustainable solutions, leveraging decades of experience and expertise.
