Speaker Obasa hails Senator Adefuye on his 80th birthday

The Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, has lauded Senator Anthony Adefuye, a member of the Governance Advisory Council (GAC), describing him as a “national treasure” as he celebrates his 80th birthday.

In a congratulatory message conveyed through his Chief Press Secretary, Eromosele Ebhomele, Speaker Obasa extolled Senator Adefuye’s wisdom, humility, and unwavering commitment to the nation. He highlighted Adefuye’s enduring influence on both Lagos and Nigerian politics, particularly his role in the June 12 struggle following the annulment of the late MKO Abiola’s presidential victory.

“One beautiful thing about Senator Adefuye is his humility despite his age. You can’t fail to notice the way he mentors the young, encourages them, and creates opportunities for their growth,” Obasa remarked.

The Speaker emphasized Adefuye’s dedication to nurturing future generations and his tireless efforts toward the progress of Nigeria. “Senator Adefuye truly believes in the coming generation just as he believes in Nigeria and works assiduously for the country’s advancement as an elder statesman,” he added.

Obasa further praised Adefuye’s contributions as a member of the GAC of Lagos State, acknowledging him as a straightforward leader with a positive mindset who is deeply respected among his peers.

“Baba commands a lot of respect, particularly amongst his colleagues. He is a great politician filled with knowledge and wisdom and he is always lively, healthy, up and doing,” Obasa said.

Concluding his message, the Speaker expressed his wishes for Senator Adefuye’s continued health and strength to contribute further to the development of Lagos and Nigeria.

“On behalf of my family and colleagues at the Lagos State House of Assembly, I celebrate the octogenarian and pray that God will continue to grant him good health, wisdom, and the capacity to play more roles for the progress of Lagos and Nigeria,” Obasa concluded.
