Strike: Courts, Schools locked as Labour enforces compliance in Kwara

Members of Nigeria Labour Congress(NLC) and Affiliate in Kwara state have joined their counterparts across the country to observe the indefinite strike.

It would be recalled that Labour had declared indefinite strike on Monday, demanding increase in minimum wage for workers in Nigeria.

WESTERNPOST visited some public offices in Ilorin metropolis and environs sighting schools and courts locked.

In his reaction, the Chairman, Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Kwara State, Comrade Murtala Olayinka, who led the enforcement, expressed satisfaction with the level of compliance.

He said the situation on ground and positive response of workers to the directives shows that the people are tired .

Olayinka explained that the union would continue to go round to ensure full mobilisation of workers.

According to him, the union adopt the sit-at-home strategy on the Strike to prevent possible hijack of the protest.

He urged government to urgently do the needful to save workers from suffering.

In his remarks, the Chairman Trade Union Congress,TUC in Kwara, Comrade Abdulrahman Onikijipa said the two unions will join hands to ensure success of the strike.

He said the union chose stay at home to make the strike liberal.
