TASUED shut as students clash with host community

The management of Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED), Ijagun, Ogun State has closed down the institution following a clash between the students and the natives of Maweje, the host community on Sunday.

The clash led to the destruction of properties in the community.

The Registrar of the institution, Dapo Oke, who announced the closure in a statement urged parents and guardians to recall their wards back home.

“Following the recent clash between students and members of the university host community in the early hours of today Sunday 28th of May, 2023, particularly, the Maweje community which led to the eruption of violence, the university management hereby announces the closing down of the university.

“In the meantime, parents and guardians are hereby advised to recall their wards particularly those living in and around Maweje back home immediately,” the Registrar said.

He noted that efforts were being made with law enforcement agents to restore peace and order in the community affected.
