Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has declared Monday, October 7, 2024, as a public holiday for all teachers in both public and private schools across the state. This decision was made in honor of the 2024 World Teachers’ Day, which is celebrated annually on October 5.
The announcement was made through a press statement issued by the Osun State Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Kolapo Alimi. The Governor emphasized the importance of the holiday as a way to appreciate the vital role teachers play in the education system not only in Osun State but globally.
In his statement, Governor Adeleke congratulated teachers worldwide, particularly those in Osun, for their dedication to shaping future generations. He noted that the holiday would allow teachers to reflect on the past, present, and future development of the state’s education sector.
The Governor reassured educators of his administration’s commitment to improving their welfare, stating, “My administration will continue to do everything morally and officially possible to put smiles on your faces, making you happy and fulfilled as purveyors of knowledge in this dear state of ours, Osun.”
Governor Adeleke concluded with best wishes to teachers, encouraging them to enjoy the celebrations of World Teachers’ Day.
