Tragic accident claims life of commercial motorcyclist in Ibadan

A commercial motorcyclist, Mr. Edward Bamidele, has lost his life after being crushed by a water-laden tanker, in a tragic incident in Oyo state capital of Ibadan.

The accident occurred on Wednesday at approximately 7:30 AM on the bustling Alesinloye Market road, near the Iyaganku Police Area Command.

According to eyewitnesses, the accident happened when Mr. Bamidele attempted to overtake the tanker. Unfortunately, he lost control, fell, and was subsequently run over by the heavy vehicle.

The passenger he was transporting at the time of the incident managed to escape unhurt by jumping off the motorcycle just in time.

Authorities from the Nigerian Police, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Oyo State Road Traffic Management Authority (OYRTMA), and other relevant agencies were noticeably quick to respond, working diligently to restore order and manage traffic at the scene.

As of the time of this report, Mr. Bamidele’s body has been transported to the State Hospital, Adeoyo mortuary.

Meanwhile, the driver of the tanker, which bore no registration, fled the scene before the arrival of law enforcement officials.
