Tripartite committee on minimum wage submits report, says SGF

The tripartite committee on new minimum wage has completed and submitted its report to the Federal Government, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr. George Akumesaid on Monday.

Recall, President Bola Tinubu inaugurated a 37-Member Tripartite Committee on National Minimum Wage, on Tuesday 30th January, this year, in accordance with the provisions of the Minimum Wage Act, 2019.

The Committee was tasked with the responsibility of recommending a new national minimum wage for Nigerian workers in public and private sectors.

In a statement issued by Segun Imohiosen Director (Information and Public Relations) in the office of the SGF, said a formal presentation of the Report will be made to Tinubu for appropriate action.

The announcement mentioned that the presentation would take place upon the return of government and organized private sector representatives, along with the leadership of organized labor, who are currently attending the ongoing International Labour Organization (ILO) Conference in Geneva, Switzerland.

However, it did not specify the exact date on which the report would be disclosed to the president.

The SGF also thanked the Chairman of the Committee, Bukar Goni Aji and members for their commitment and sacrifices.
