Uzodimma, Sanwo-Olu, former Governors, visit Buhari in Daura, express gratitude over support to states

Some governors and former governors on Thursday visited former President Muhammadu Buhari in his country home in Daura.

The governors who joined the former president for lunch praised him for his tangible projects and developmental programmes.

Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma who wrote about the visit on his Facebook page, also said the governors thanked Buhari for overseeing a credible election that produced President Bola Tinubu.

Uzodinma said: “Earlier today (Thursday), I joined my colleagues and other national leaders of our great nation, for lunch with former President Muhammadu Buhari at his country home in Daura, Katsina State.

“While we commended him for all the tangible projects and programs of his administration towards the development of our country, we failed not to express our gratitude to him for the peaceful transition of power as he exited the center stage.

“Former President Buhari assured Nigerians of a peaceful, fair, credible and transparent 2023 General Elections and the emergence of His Excellency, President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has been adjudged by many observers and international community as the most keenly contested and credible election in the recent times.

“Our interactions with Former President Muhammadu Buhari was quite warm and as we recounted, one after the other, his benevolence to our various States. We prayed for God’s continuous blessings upon him and his family.”

The former President thanked the visitors for coming to him in Daura, reminding them that a big responsibility rests on their shoulders.

“I thank you all from my heart. You have given me immense love for the past eight years. It is hard to think of any past Nigerian leader who has received such love,” Buhari said, adding that he remained eternally grateful to them all.

He urged them to get together to serve the country and its people, describing democracy as one of the nation’s greatest strengths.

Governors on the visit were Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State, who represented Governor Abdulrahman AbdulRazak, the Chairman of the Nigerian Governors Forum; the Chairman of Progressive Governors and Governor Of Imo State, Hope Uzodinma; the Chairman of the Northern Governors Forum, Gombe State’s Inuwa Yahaya; the host governor, Katsina State’s Dr Dikko Radda; Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu; Bauchi State, Bala Mohammed and Nassarawa Abdullahi Sule.

Also in attendance were the former governors of Kebbi, Abubakar Atiku Bagudu; Niger, Abubakar Sani Bello; Jigawa, Badaru Abubakar and Kano, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje as well as the Deputy Governor of Kano State, Aminu AbdulSalam.
