We will work for Tinubu, says Osun APC faction

Factional Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Alhaji Rasaq Salinsile has acknowledged that Asiwaju Bola Tinubu remains the presidential candidate his members will work for come the 2023 general elections.

Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday in Osogbo, Salinsile, the leader of the Osun APC, loyal to the Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, said despite the loss of the party at the just concluded governorship election in the state, Tinubu remains their presidential candidate and would ensure his victory.

“Asiwaju Bola Tinubu is our leader in the South West and in Nigeria as a whole. He is our father and tribe’s man and he is our presidential candidate, that one is a forgone case,” Salinsile said.

Meanwhile, Salinsile has accused Governor Gboyega Oyetola and the party chairman, Prince Gboyega Famodun of bringing the party down in the state.

He expressed his unhappiness and dissatisfaction on the loss suffered by the party at the July 16, 2022 governorship election in the state, which he said was by virtue of mishandling of basic essence of democracy and politicking.

“Governor Gboyega Oyetola, Prince Gboyega Famodun and the entire IleriOluwa caucus of the APC simply delivered victory to the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) by their obvious lack of party management, understanding, crass ignorance, unabashedly protection of selfish interests, exhibition of huge ego among others.

“They clearly deviated from the best practices in politicking, party administration, governance and democracy,” he added.

Asked whom he voted for during the governorship election in the state, Salinsile said he voted for APC and as well won his local government.

Salinsile said: “God is my witness, I voted for APC, where Oyetola is our candidate and I won my local government for APC, which is Iwo Local Government.

“The so called state chairman lost his own local government, Boluwaduro Local Government, which is a big shame. With Famodun, three cabinet members and head of a powerful agency in town, the APC lost in that local government. Could that be the work of TOP?”
