Wike rules out ‘last minute’ talks with Atiku

Sharing is caring!

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has ruled out last minute talks with Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar before February 25 presidential election.

Speaking on a live interview with some selected TV stations on Thursday, Wike said since the PDP believe they can win the presidential election without him and the G5 governors, they should go ahead.

Wike said: “No, we can’t do that; it’s over! We have said it and there is nothing anybody can do about it now. They believe they can win the election. I am not ready to sit down with anybody again.”

Wike and the governors of Oyo State (Seyi Makinde), Abia (Okezie Ikpeazu), Enugu( Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi) and Benue (Samuel Ortom) who form the G5 group have been at loggerheads with the leadership of the party since the Rivers State governor lost the PDP presidential primary to Atiku.

The G5 governors have rebuffed reconciliation moves by the leadership of the party, insisting that the National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu should resign.

According to them, the North cannot produce the party’s presidential candidate and the national chairman.
