You will never pay for my shows in Lagos again, WizKid tells fans

Lagos fans of the Nigerian award-winning musician and global music icon, WizKid will no longer pay to watch him perform.

Wizkid who sees himself as a homeboy clarified his recent comment that 2022 would be the last time he would perform in Lagos State.

A few weeks ago, the singer came under heavy social media attack after he said; ‘Vibes on the beach with Big Wiz’, his concert scheduled for December 30, would be his last performance in Lagos.

“Last time I ever perform in Lagos. Let’s rage!!” Wizkid had announced.

His comment, however, provoked outrage, with a huge number of his fans accusing him of “disrespecting” the city that made him famous.

But speaking at a concert in Lagos on Saturday, the ‘Ojuelegba’ crooner said some fans “misquoted” his remark.

The ‘Essence’ singer also declared that his next shows in the state will be free.

“Let me tell you something, When I said this is going to be my last show in Lagos right…What I really meant was, with the kind of love that you guys show me, it is very unfair to do shows around the world and come back and still make you guys pay to watch me perform.

“So, I want to make a promise tonight, this would be the last time you are ever gonna pay to come to Wizkid’s show,” he said.

Wizkid recently provoked the fury of his fans in Ghana and Côte d’Ivoire after he failed to show up for paid concerts.

The music star also angered the Nigerian rap community after he said the music genre is “boring and dead”.

Blaqbonez, Uche Ogbodo, Oladips, and MI Abaga, were among the celebrities who reacted to the singer’s controversial remark.
