By Innocent Raphael

The Imo State Government has officially handed over an electronically-powered tollgate at the Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport, Owerri, to the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN).

Governor Hope Uzodimma, who led the ceremony, highlighted that the new facility would enhance FAAN’s ability to provide quality services to both Imo residents and other Nigerian travelers.

During the brief ceremony, Uzodimma emphasized that the state government installed the tollgate to improve the airport’s aesthetics and manage traffic flow more effectively.

He expressed confidence that the initiative would encourage FAAN to maintain high service standards.

Uzodimma also acknowledged that the road leading to the airport had previously been commissioned by President Bola Tinubu during his recent visit to Imo State, while the digital tollgate was being installed.

Welcoming the governor and his delegation, Airport Manager Mrs. Nkechi Ihekwuaba thanked Uzodimma for the new structure.

She praised the state government’s efforts to enhance the airport’s facilities and service delivery.
