Customs generates N10b in 5months, empowers Officers wives, widows

Kwara Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has generated N10.02 billion revenue of seizures from January to May 2024, a 40.41% increase compared to the same period in 2023.

The revenue was generated from 21 seizures of prohibited items, including foreign rice, used vehicles, and petroleum products.

The Customs Area Controller, Kwara Command, Faith Ojeifo stated this during a press briefing held in Ilorin on Thursday.

The command has empowered 67 wives and widows of Customs officers with skills and start-up equipment, and donated relief materials to the Kwara State Ministry of Social Development.

The start up equipments include sewing machines,Baking oven and Make up kits.

The command also donated relief materials, worth millions of naira, include food items and toiletries, aimed at supporting the vulnerable and less privileged in the state.

Controller Ojeifo commended the support of International Tobacco Company Ltd and Sanica Food Beverages, and urged the empowered women to utilize the items positively.
