EFCC arrests Abubakar Funtua over N28bn alleged fraud

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has reportedly arrested Abubakar Funtua, the son of Isa Funtua, a Federal Minister in the second Nigerian Republic.

Guardian in a report stated that, Abubakar is currently in detention at the EFCC’s headquarters in Abuja.

The report also indicated that anti-graft authorities are investigating Abubakar over alleged fraud and theft involving over N28 billion.

He was reportedly arrested by operatives in his Abuja home early on Friday and is expected to spend his Sallah holiday in detention.

It is said Abubakar is being accused of his alleged involvement in a scam in which he reportedly collected agricultural loans from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
