New Olubadan, Oba Olakulehin to be crowned July 12 at Mapo Hall

Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, the Olubadan-designate, will be crowned as the traditional ruler of Ibadan on Friday, July 12, 2024.

Oyo State Commissioner for Information, Dotun Oyelade, disclosed in a statement released on Friday.

The coronation ceremony will be held at Mapo Hall, where Governor Seyi Makinde will present the Staff of Office to Oba Olakulehin.

This follows the nomination and selection of Olakulehin by the Ibadan kingmakers on April 12, 2024, in accordance with the Olubadan Chieftaincy Declaration of 1957.

The position became vacant after the passing of Oba Lekan Balogun on March 14, 2024.

Governor Makinde approved the nomination in a memo dated June 14, 2024.

Oyelade emphasized the importance of patience among the people of Ibadan and reassured them of the administration’s commitment to justice and fairness.

He urged the residents to look forward to the coronation event on July 12.
