Popular music promoter, Femi Esho dies at 77

Popular music promoter and Chairman of Evergreen Musical Company, Babafemi Esho has passed away at 77 years.

Baba Esho as he is fondly called reportedly died on Monday June 17 after a brief illness.

His son, Bunmi Esho announced the passing of his father in a statement.

“We announce the passing unto glory of our Patriarch, Mr Samuel Babafemi Esho popularly known and referred to as ‘Baba Esho’, Baba Musician, etc. Baba Esho departed to greater glory on Monday 17th June 2024 after a brief illness at the age of 77 years,” the statement read.

Baba Esho was the Chairman of the Evergreen Musical Company and the Founder of the Evergreen Music Heritage Foundation.

His company is reputed for being the largest collector of music of yesteryears in Western Nigeria.

He is famous for promoting the musical works of many Highlife music stars, including Bobby Benson, Sir Victor Olaiya, Eddy Okonta and many other popular music icons of yesteryears.

He also promoted other genres of music in Nigeria such as Juju, Apala, Sakara among others.
