President Tinubu has approved upgrade of Ibadan Airport, says Makinde

President Bola Tinubu has approved Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde’s plan to upgrade the Ibadan Airport to international standards.

The governor disclosed this when the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Hassan Baba Abubakar, paid him a courtesy visit on Wednesday,

Governor Makinde promised that work on the project would start as soon as all paperwork was completed, stating that he would be travelling to Abuja later to obtain the required paperwork.

He added that when the project gets underway, the runway would be extended and a new terminal would be constructed. He also said a team had been assembled to carry out the project, which he claimed would strengthen the state’s economy.

Governor Makinde requested the Air Force’s input into the project to ensure it complies with the necessary operating standards.

In his speech, Air Marshal Hassan Baba Abubakar stated that he was on an operational trip visiting Air Force installations nationwide and was now in Ibadan.

He expressed his appreciation to Governor Makinde for his administration’s support of the military, particularly the state’s Air Force Base.
